Rudyard Kipling

1865-1936

Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay, India on the 29th of December 1865. He spent the first five years of his life in India, and then was sent to England to be educated. At 17, he returned to his family who were still in India and worked as a reporter for a newspaper. In 1890 he left India and returned to England. He married an American woman, Caroline Balestier and went to live in America. Four years later they returned to England.
He died on the 18th of January 1936 and was buried in Westminster Abbey, London.
