Poems by Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA on December 10th 1830. Her father, Hon. Edward Dickinson, was the leading lawyer of Amherst, and was the treasurer of Amherst college.

A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spent years without setting a foot outside the house, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to the grounds of the house. During her lifetime she wrote a large number of poems, but very few were published until after she died. Emily died in Amherst on May 15th, 1886.
